Soulmate world except two people without marks decide they’re going to fake being each other’s soulmates with fake tattoos and what starts out as wacky shenanigans to reassure their families they can settle down and be happy ends up with them delving too far into the lore to make sure they get the act right and slowly piecing together, to their horror, that the whole soulmate system is a scheme of their people’s gods to make the population boom before an upcoming war.
I thought you were going to say that their lacking marks were actually their matching marks all along but that is interesting
objectifying men in armor will literally never get old. like, work it shiny boy. hit ‘em with that old razzle dazzle you fuckin trash can. hottie! (tucks $5 into your cuirass)
Some fictional characters are relatable in a Gender way not because they’re nonconforming, but because they’re so incredibly into performing their assigned gender that it somehow wraps all the way around. Like, some sort of gender overflow error.
I just love how a lot of characters in OFMD are struggling with questions of identity and NONE of them are about being queer. Stede is struggling with being a weakling, an aristocrat, and a pirate. Ed is struggling with being a killer, a legend, and a peasant. Jim is struggling with being an assassin. NOBODY is like “oh no, what does it mean if I’m queer.” It’s not even a question. Fucking incredible. Love it.
